Go for Niveau 2 !
Level 1 : You have never danced or never danced blues before (or only few times) ? You can register to this level, no experience needed. If you are not comfortable dancing or dancing with a partner, this level will help you getting more at ease progressively. You’ll learn the basics of blues dancing and enough moves to have fun on the dance floor in the evenings.
Level 2 : You have been dancing for almost a year or more, you know the basics, but wish to vary and improve your moves with more mastery, then it’s real training at the hands of an expert that you need. Level 2 is what you want! You dance since 1 year or more, you know the basics, but wish to vary and improve your moves with more mastery, then it’s real training at the hands of an expert that you need.
Level 3 : You have mastered the moves, fishtails, eight, waves and other basic moves, you can already move freely to the music, but you’d like to go further down that road and express in your moves what the music means to you. Then an extensive work on expressiveness and musicality will be rewarding to you!
Level 4 : You have already passed the previous levels and mastered all that they include, you are valued and appreciated by your Blues dance partners nationally and even worldwide. However you still feel the need to improve, be at one with the music, be intimately fused with it, and in full harmony with your partner. Then level 4 will be your challenge for the weekend!
Solo : Be aware: you must have at least 1 year of regular practice of class of Blues and Blues party. This pass is limited to 20 persons, so that teachers recommandations will be individualized.
NB : To estimate your level, please refer to the regularity of your practice in classes, festivals, parties, and not only your years of dancing : you don't necessarily win a level per year !
Genia’s dancing story begun when she was 6 years old. She is a lindy hop and blues dancer from Kyiv, Ukraine. She likes to learn, teach and explore. Really appreciates the process of teaching, working with people, sharing energy and ideas.
On the classes mostly works on discovering body motion, body control, joy of listening to music and being moved
by music.
As an instructor, Mike strives to create a learning environment that is fun, challenging, and inclusive. The goal is for each individual student to find their next step forward and enjoy that process of growth. Mike loves seeing students’ eyes light up when they understand a concept or feel a movement work naturally in their body for the first time.
Mike has taught dance in 21 countries and counting. He currently teaches Lindy Hop, Air Steps, Solo Jazz, and many different Blues styles. Mike has not only placed in and won respected competitions across multiple genres but also thrown down hard in unofficial late night dance-offs.
Mike lives and breathes dance. He is constantly honing his skills and developing new ideas. If you run into him at a grocery store, an airport, a museum, or a mountain top, you’ll probably catch him dancing.
Melanie and Albert started dancing Blues together in Barcelona. Their passion for Blues is evident in both their dances and their classes which are fun and instructive as well as focusing on technical skills.
They currently give classes, organize their own Blues festival (Low & Slow) in a small town (La Garriga) near Barcelona and they are growing MOV/MENT, one of the referebnt schools on the zone.
Thanks to the support and enthusiasm of the Blues dancers in the area (Garriga Powers & Friends), you can find a Blues community there that is friendly and welcoming, just like them!
Alex and Ioanna are an enthusiastic blues dance couple! They love to share their personal style of Blues dancing through teaching, adore choreographing captivating performances and cherish loooong nights of social dancing!
They are both highly trained dancers; Ioanna has been dancing since she was a child and Alex has been doing Swing dances since 2008!
Since 2017 they have been focusing on Blues, traveling around Europe deepening their understanding of the Blues dance, history and culture as well as continuously developing their dancing and teaching skills!
Thanks to their love & dedication and building on the excitement of the local dancers they have managed to build an explosive Blues dance community in Athens!
In just a few years (even through the covid years) it has steadily grown to become an energetic, loving and high leveled community - many members of which you’ll also find travelling around European festivals!
